Do all compose configuration of your PC alone or do you have one of that complet PC? ;D Because it seems to me that is it alwayes better to buy items (disk, memmory, uP..) and then compose it.. It is usually cheaper and faster.

Hmmmm we could debate this till the cows come home Its all 2 do with what ever u feel good with u know Myself I buy all the bits and build a new rig from a pile of parts on my desk 4 me its better that way , I can pick a M/B with this and that onboard rather than picking up a sound card etc etc etc , or if u need a top spect S/C pick a M/B without on board sound its different 4 me as pc repairs / full systems etc etc etc is 1 of the things I do 2 keep the bank manager away but my very first pc was a barebones , and I did what Ironman did / does and buy the other parts u need

Unfortunately, my machine is not too good at the moment (have much better one for work).
Only have;
Pentium 4 2.80 GHZ, 512 MB Memory and Geforce FX 5200 (that directly affect gaming)
Apart from that I have a few decent peripherals. I alternate between a Razer Boomslang 2100 Mouse or the new Logitech MX Laser Mouse (not optical but laser tracking technology) and play with an Icemat.
I also use a couple of utilities to 'tweak' performance without overclocking. One of these is 'enditall' a utility which allows you to 'kill' background processes and free up resources for the game. The Other is 'Speed up my PC' which locks pages and does some deep RAM recovery to clear the cache. I do notice improvement if I start the game after having used these.
I also set maxfps to 76 (find that anything more doesn't make much difference) and hunkmegs to 256 - this is normally enough to be going with.
Careful though - I'll be sourcing a new PC soon (from parts) and will only get the very best. If you've got any advice for video cards etc. Please give them. I don't care about HD size for this machine since I've got others that act as 'storage' for me.
