I can't believe you guys haven't played this game before.
I played it to death when it came out. Doom was the next ID software game. It had a slightly different engine than W3D (it has stairs and different levels etc. whereas W3D is 'flat' - all on one level)
In Doom though, you couldn't have one level directly above another, they had to be split slightly although you could look up and down there wasn't full 360 degree capability. Quake improved that and allowed levels to be above one another and full 360 degree view. The ET game we play is essentially modelled on the basic Quake engine with the Quake 3 improvements (e.g. better character movement, better physics etc.)

I can't believe you guys haven't played this game before. I played it to death when it came out. (...) Ric Ric - R.!.P. was 3 years old then and I think He could have some troubles about playing this game (maybe not...). |

yeah of course, you're right. I just dowloaded it and played it for a while but got bored after 5 minutes.
