Hi.
It is not the new problem, but I can't find a help on the forum. Since 15.03.2007 I got Windowe Vista. And I had to install E.T. once again. I played on server 1 (PLC). After about 5 minutes of playing - I was disconnected and I saw a message: "Server Dosconnected - has been kicked via PunkBuster (for 0 minutes)... RESTRICTION: Inadequate o/S Privilages". After This I was kicked after about 10 seconds past connecting.
I've seen, that one of another player has had the same information and I did everything, what ironman told to do (deleted all maps etc.). It wouldn't help. I uninstalled game and installed again - still the same ! ! ! I'm DOWN ! ! ! help me if You can. Everybody write me, that I use WhaleClient 1,4 beta. Which one I should use ? where can I find it ? I downloaded this WhaleCliend during downloading maps from our Server.
Help me, please if You can...
Woeful - paco...
P.S.
I tried to play on another servers and I've seen the same information about "... Inadequate 0/s privilage" - WHAT TO DO ? ? ?
Latest News - I deleted WkaleClient 1,4 beta and downloaded PLC WhaleClient, but after connecting still I can see: "You are using WhaleClient 1,4 beta (or something like this...)"

Hi Paco, did you install Vista correctly? Maybe these installation instructions will help you www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVbf9tOGwno&eurl ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D OK, sorry Dude for my Spam unfortunately i don't know a solution for you, but the error message says "Inadequate o/S Privileges" which could mean that your personal Vista account is restricted in some way. You could try it again with an Administrator account without any restrictions. I googled a bit and found a solution for WinXP for this problem (German site, sorry) www.chip.de/c1_forum/thread.html?bwthreadid=718334It points out, that Punkbuster needs some Administrator privileges on your system. hope this helps... CU Pit (btw, i have ET running under Windows 2000, its perfect and error free, why do you need the brand new buggy M$ Vista?) -- oh, and i guess not whaleclient but Punkbuster causes the problem. Only PB can kick you like this (i think).

paco,
i have done some research about your problem by typing the error message in google. And the 'main' answer was that the account you are using has to have adminrights on the computer which you play the game. Else punkbuster cant check for 100 percent on cheats and etc. And is ET installed on the account that has adminrights?. An other cause could be that there is adware/malware on your computer that cause the problem and messes with admin rights. Than you have to delete the files.
Hope this helps a bit.
If you want information i can send you some links

Ok friends. I have solved my problem faster, that I thought. I'd like to share here the solution of my problem about ET in Win Vista.
You see... Vista is build this way, that you don't have to be on Admin - account to install, uninstall software etc. Win XP doesn't allow You to do something in computer if You are not on Admin Account. In Vista - Administrator can make something from any account (if he knows a password). Alas - if a program is running, trying to connect with internet or something like this, Vista almost ALWAYS is asking Admin if he give his permision to do it. I had the problem like this with playing E.T.
First - I have changed "colour style" for normal. ET was changing it and system was alarming me about it. I couldn't see it 'cause when I closed E.T. problem has vanished and alert has vanished too. I thought that something is not right, so I switched (after disconnected me) on this alert. I thought, that it is there.
Then I changed colours style for normal. Alas - I was still disconecting. Then I entered into "control panel" and turned off the "users control". Now I can play. All the time Vista is asking me to turn on this control.
If anybody has VISTA in his comp - this MUST help.
Thanks everybody for trying to help me. I'm thankful.
paco

Linux OS is also far supirior then windows.. and it is free, so no more greedy bill gates filling hes pockets even more,,,
the proof is in the pudding just check the server lists, almost all servers run on linux because it is the supirior OS , with more smooth and faster internal communication linux is the nr1 choise for server providers..

But even more: for Linux incredible desktop software is available, far superior the poor Vi$ta playtoy: Xgl, Beryl, KDE. Watch this presentation of the Xgl technology: video.google.de/videoplay?docid=1744243597010709892it's amazing.

This way you can use Windows to do the work as long as you aren't familiar with Linux. And there is no need to uninstall anything...

Yes this is the one solution for me too because i got 250gt, wich wont probably ever full. but when i change to linux there is not much what you could need from windows, execpt you miss the daily problems i already test drived the linux with "live CD", with that you can get used to linux and then just instal it. it might need some learning, but so did windows when it first came. that console is actually easy to use.

If you wanna give Linux a try, i would recommend www.kubuntu.org/ to you. I use Debian and if i had to choose today i would use Kubuntu (but i dont want to reinstall my system and Debian is still fine to me). My Windows 2000 installation i only use to play games (this means ET, because most of the new games need XP, that's why i don't buy any new games)

At least if I remember correct there is linux support in some of our mods YES, ET works under linux, but my problem is that my graphics card is much too cheap... a GeForce4 MX 440 (and this is only a re-labeled GeForce2). With Linux i had massive graphic errors on all maps, and with windows i have these errors only with some servers. I don't know what the ploblem exactly is, but on Windows with PLC Servers there aren't any errors, but with some other servers. With Linux on all Servers i tried. It was less work to reinstall Win2k than to work on the Linux problem But i've read that other people have ET running fine with Linux (and i'm sure, if i would buy a more modern GeForce then there aren't any errors)
