Jackson called for jury service
Pop star Michael Jackson has received a jury summons at his Neverland ranch in California - four months after he was acquitted on child molestation charges.
But it is likely he will be excused from serving due to the fact that he has lived in Bahrain since the trial.
"All he has to do is show he has legal residency somewhere else and he'll be exempted," said Santa Barbara jury commissioner Gary Blair.
Jackson was in London last week to record a charity single.
Fans mobbed the pop star as he attended a performance of Billy Elliot: The Musical and visited the Madame Tussauds waxworks museum.
Paperwork
The singer's legal team have filed paperwork requesting a deferment.
"He is permanently living outside of the United States," said his trial lawyer, Thomas Mesereau.
Ronald Reagan was also summoned to serve on a jury when he was president but was granted a deferment until he was out of office, Mr Blair said.
Actress Bo Derek, also a Santa Barbara resident, has received at least two jury summons and served on one panel.
