I got this list from the readme file, when I had to re-install ET (after I had corrupted it by doing a wrong installation of the 2.60 patch).
I had never noticed it was there... Let me quote to you:
------------
- Performance Boosters
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory allows you to customize your settings so that you can improve the visuals or decrease them. Some of them have a greater impact on performance than others. Below are some settings that will improve your performance, but at the expense of the visuals:
1. Set the system options to 'Fastest'
2. \com_maxfps (set to a high number i.e 400)
3. \cg_atmosphericeffects 0
4. \cg_wolfparticles 0
5. \r_fastsky 1
6. \r_picmip 3
7. \cg_drawgun 0
------------
I have personally tried numbers 3 and 5 (as given above) and found them to decrease quite considerably the video card lag most of us (well, some of us...) get in the Wörfburg Radar:
no. 3 removes the rain (although you can still hear it and see the impact of drops in the puddles on hard ground); and
no. 5 removes the lightning storm (including the moving clouds).
As I tried this off-line, while hosting a game, I still don't know if this changes the settings only on the computer of the person who actually types the commands, or if it changes them on the server and, therefore, even though only 1 person types the commands, they affect everybody's computers...
I assume this will also work to remove the falling snow in the Rail Gun, but haven't tried it yet.
Anyway, I'm still looking for a command to reduce the lag I get everytime there is a cloud of smoke in my line of sight, either from a coloured smoke marker thrown by a Field Ops, or from a grey smoke grenade thrown by a Covert Ops.
Can anyone help me with this one?
