WOW server quiet with patch 2.60 , and fot that matter all servers with patch...
why?? are people just to lazy to download ET patch 2.60 ?

I've downloaded the patch from the link given in the forum, pasted it to the et main directory, executed it, got an error because the .exe file said the "version" file (a configuration file) should be in the "Wolfenstein - Enemy territory" folder and it wasn't, and therefore the installation was unsuccessful. So, I copied the "version" file to the "Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory" folder, ran the .exe file again, and apparently it was successful. Only it wasn't. When I started the game, I got the small window asking me if I wanted to update, to which I said "no" (because I had already installed the patch, or so I thought...) and tried to play. The PLC server wasn't listed, but I clicked on it anyway, only to receive a "no-no" message saying that I didnt have the correct version. So, this time I clicked on "yes" on the auto-update window, and got catapulted to a site where I had links to download the exact same .exe file. It took quite a long time, it finished just now, I'll check to see if it worked. |

The .exe file I got from auto-update also doesnt work, although it apparently installed successfuly.
So, I now pasted the "version" file also to the "profiles" folder, and it reads like this:

I downloaded and installed the patch with (almost) no problem at all.
I tried the server and the only thing I noticed was that all custom additions (except the maps) were gone: no XP save, no switching classes, etc.
Maybe that has discouraged some players...

Well... I've downloaded the patch from the link given in the forum, pasted it to the et main directory, executed it, ermm u did what!!!. you downloaded a auto execute program (unpacking pragram) in to the Main of ET   no dude thhe patch on our website is good, just down load ti to desk top click on it twice, then just press yes yes yes yes yes (if you have installed ET on c:program files/wolfensteinET tht is it... i dont think it is strange u got a bunnch of errors because of putting the auto execute file in main (ET) |

Yours: Zecristo O Messias Dos Ateus that is because this new patch is in conflict with the Server Shrub mod, i ideleted and installed server now 3 times.. it is now just ET and Patch 2.60 and that seems to work, but i hear from people they cant see server in master list?? so does anyone see the server in master list? (i never could) BTW costum maps are added and our compleet own mod.. |

Unfortunately, it now shows a ping of almost 200... Also, the fact that I have updated PunkBuster with PBWEB unfortunately means that the server is now giving me PB problems that isn't giving anybody else... And sometimes I can't get in at the first attempt, as I get the following message: Valid CdKey is not reaching GuidAuth ServerBah, a CdKey error-message for this game, laughable... |

Anyway, I re-installed ET for the 2nd time in 2 days.
I was tired of getting kicked by PunkBuster for having newer files that I had gotten through PBWEB ...
So, now that I've reinstalled (and not updated through PBWEB), I still get kicked by PunkBuster, go figure...
I guess I'll just have to wait until the auto-update gets me the right PB files...

I still dont understand fully why, but I had a conflict between ET/PunkBuster and my firewall (Symantec's Norton Internet Security, bless their little hearts...) I've got it sorted out to some extent, but I'm still not fully satisfied with what I got... |

me either fly, server is upgrading pb as we speak, i can see it updating pb all the time... and i was getting kicked too for pb violations even after i turned it off  |

I had the problem of the server not showing in the list. but i have d/l'ed the patch from here and now it shows in all its glory. i have had to play on other servers recently and they seem so fake. with out al the little mods you have added. the guns sounded like pea shooters, the players were crap. all lone gunmen running off and trying to do eveything them selfs, endless spawn killing/ spawn lurking always looking for a cheap and easy kill and general noobishness. but then who am i to complain to them. its not the clan server and dont have the same rules an stuff. still i think that spawn killing a somthing no one should do in the intrest of a fair and good game

Iron do you no how to sort out my profile problem somtimes it good other times it uses an old 1.
Bye the way flying my ping to the PCL server is 70ms
a couple of weeks back it was 30-40 ms

Bye the way flying my ping to the PCL server is 70ms a couple of weeks back it was 30-40 ms Fibremat, I too got ping variation (on an average of 100), but it depends on the number of players; my lowest ping on the PLC server is 80 (if I'm the only player), but it can go as high as 120 (if the server is full). In the past few days, after I re-installed ET, I was getting crazy pings like 300-400, almost as if I was using a 56KB modem... To some extent, I managed to sort it out (by messing with the Norton firewall), but I certainly didn't have this problem before re-installing. If not for that, my advice to you (in order to solve your profile problems), would be to re-install ET, although saving the relevant PK3 files from your current installation. |

About the high ping question there's one more possibility, I think.
Some months ago, soon after I started playing in PLC server I got one day some weird pings escalating from 300 on connecting to 600 1 hour later.
I later found out I had (just) 20 virus infected files.
After cleaning them I returned to pings similar to Flying's (same country after all, though not same provider).
The virus theory is not however very consistent with higher pings just after the patching.
As to Norton it can be a real pain in the sphincter when installing/reinstalling new programs.
Not that it always create problems but it sometimes had me uninstalling it and reinstalling it in order to let other programs run normally.
